I’m here to help you move the way you want and need to move for your life!

Hello! I’m Gwen Gannon, Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist (CCES), Functional Training Specialist (FTS), and Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT). I’m also the owner and founder of FIT: Functionally Informed Training, aka the FIT Studio.

I started the FIT Studio because I am committed to creating an environment that is driven by how your body moves, not how it looks.

If you are feeling:

  • frustration about your current level of strength, function, or movement

  • like your body is old, broken, or just not “normal”

  • stuck, hopeless, tired, and in pain

  • ignored by general healthcare recommendations

  • overwhelmed because you just don’t know where to start

  • like you’re having to miss out on activities out of fear your body will break

…I truly believe you can feel strong, empowered, and in less pain through strategic movement and massage therapy. At the FIT Studio, you will receive plenty of tools to address pain if it ever comes up so that you can feel confident about trying new activities and situations.

I use a strength-based approach that focuses on what is already working well in your existing skills and resources to promote healing, resilience, empowerment, and positive change. Together, we meet your body where it is and build on it from there.

At the FIT Studio, there is no one single way a body “should” move, look, or feel. Every BODY is welcome, and every BODY can heal. You can move the way you need and want to, and it’s never too late!

I invite you to book a session or contact me for more information. I would love to hear your story and plan how we can work together to address the barriers you face to moving the way you want and need to move for your life!

— Gwen

Frequently Asked Questions

  • That depends on your specific goals and resources. We will work together to figure out the best plan to achieve your goals. We will continue to assess and revise the plan as needed to set you up for success.

You could come in multiple times a week, weekly, biweekly (2x/month), monthly, or quarterly. It is completely flexible and based on what works best for you and your goal achievement.

I also offer small group options that can be a great way to continue working toward your goals. Some clients attend a variety of sessions including Individual and small group sessions.

We will collaborate closely to figure out what your past barriers have been and how I can best support you.

  • Absolutely not!

The “no pain no gain” mentality is an often misguided sentiment in the fitness industry and has stigmatized movement training. There is a big difference between finding an appropriate and safe movement to challenge a body and facilitate change, versus powering through something that may be hurting and over stressing a body.

When working with me, you will get the benefit of spending one-on-one time with a provider who really listens to where you are currently and what has work and not worked for you in the past.

We listen to pain as a helpful messenger; it tells us a lot. You will never have to do any exercise that feels painful or uncomfortable.

If there is an exercise that you are aiming to do but that causes you pain, we will work with your body to prepare it for that exercise so that you can perform it in a pain-free way — or we will find an exercise that gives you the same benefits without causing pain.

There are so many ways to move. Bodies are all different. I have extensive knowledge of how to strengthen a body without causing pain.

  • That depends on how your body presents that day and your goals. You are the expert on your body, and I am here as your coach and guide, offering recommendations based on my knowledge, training, skills, and expertise.

Individual sessions may include a combination of massage therapy, corrective exercises, strength training, cardiovascular training, and goal setting.

Massage therapy can be an effective way to address muscles that are preventing full range of movement. You never have to receive massage therapy if you don't want to. It is only one of the tools available to us as we work toward your goals. I also coach self massage techniques so you are able to address these issues on your own when you need them.

Partner Sessions will be similar to Individual Sessions. We meet your body where it is and sometimes you may do similar exercises as your training partner and sometimes you each may have different plans that day.

Small Group Sessions follow a monthly exercise circuit plan with individualized modifications and time to address issues with self massage techniques if needed.

  • My studio is a private, single practitioner space. You are the only person in the studio during individual sessions. The only time anyone else is in the studio with us is if you are in a Partner Session or Small Group Session.

Over the past 14 years I have worked hard to foster an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment for all my clients. I am forever humbled by the trust clients have placed in me and I do not hold that lightly. It is my responsibility that you feel safe, welcome, supported, and comfortable in the FIT Studio. I mean it when I say "come as you are". You are welcome here.

  • Not at all! You can have a completely flexible schedule while working with me.

In fact, if you travel a lot, we will work together to develop a plan that you can do on the road, in your hotel room, or using another facility so that you can continue to work toward your goals while you are away from home.

Many of my clients are in that same situation (including my partner), so you will be relieved to know that I have a TON of creative ways to support you in sticking to your goals even while you are traveling.

You also have the option to book a virtual session with me if you are traveling or staying in another location for a long period of time.
